Captive BeautiesA Poem by Songbird0510Not SKINNY enough. Not SEXY enough. Not TALL enough. Not PRETTY enough. Not CURVY enough. Not FUNNY enough. Not HAPPY enough. Not ANGRY enough. Not TAN enough. Not FAIR enough. Not FULL enough. Not HUNGRY enough. Not BEAUTIFUL enough. Not EXPENSIVE enough. Not USED enough. Not PERFECT enough.... Your poison seeps out, filling the lungs of your victims. Holding them captive to your indulgences. Even though they are free to go, they are captive to your empty promises of being fulfilled. Of being enough... You say "you are accepted here" and yet you demand sacrifice. And so they cut and bleed, they eat then empty themselves. They run until they are exhausted. They drug their bodies to become numb to their self-inflicted agony. You whisper, "more" and they strive. Emptied out, they succumb to your vices. Working them straight to the marrow, driving them to the edge of their sanity. You offer just a taste of beauty, and they are starved for it. Like a row of blind slaves, you lead them towards the abyss of chaos. Their chains are of their own making- they come to you not knowing they ask you for each link. And look at you! Congratulating them on being so close to arriving... But they never will. © 2013 Songbird0510 |
