You're driving downtown, with the city lights twinkling
Out with your man, laughing and loving
Then something catches your eye
Turning, you see her and your heart burns inside you
Those long lashes and full lips
Dark hair and nice hips
You can hear your thoughts snarling
Acid from hate rising
Self-righteousness shouting her sins in silence
Disgusted that she's making her money from selling
Her body not speaking, but yelling
That she ain't too expensive, but she might be fun
Just show her the money and then you've won
A moment of pleasure
Fulfilled lust's desire
Glancing down at your sparkling diamond
You feel how much better you are
You'd never stoop so low like her
But what your hate won't let you see
Is this isn't what she wants her life to be
Strung out on drugs
Enjoying no love
She's tired and lonely
And thinkin' "If only..."
But there is no one to come to her aid
No one to break down the doors to save
Her from this hell she's been trapped within
She's ain't free- she's caged in!
She's got no warm bed, no safe roof over her head
She'd better make her money and give it to Daddy
Or be thrown down and beaten badly

No way she can see
A route of escape, a way to be free
No momma to hold her
No father to shield her
No home to protect her
No way to know for sure
That's loved for who she is
And that she's worth more than gold
That she is the prize
Not something to be sold
Maybe next time you see her
Don't be so quick to hate her
You don't know if she's a slave or if she's free
You don't know what it is that's caused her to be
Who she is on that sidewalk
Why she talks like she talks
Keep your accusations at bay
Maybe stop and just pray

Of if she'll have to fight for her life
Don't hate or despise that young girl
Don't you dare.
Do something kind, do something right
Get on your knees and take her before God
It might be the only thing you can do,
But it sure is better for her and for you.
