Interesting viewpoint. I would say that many of the major cities in the UK have the same problems. I was born in London, as were my parents and grandparents. I don’t feel the need to go back there, it’s changed beyond belief. However there are still attractions well worth seeing. My husband is from Liverpool, same there too. Homeless everywhere. Bad government does this. We don’t have a north/south divide in our household by the way. We are united:) You cover several issues in your stanzas.

many thanks Chris. this was not meant to be a diatribe against London a place where I have visited a.. read moremany thanks Chris. this was not meant to be a diatribe against London a place where I have visited and for a short while lived until I escaped back to yorkshire . yes even up here we have problems but its the shear scale of them in London that shook me when I went down earlier this year for the first time in 6 years. even Leeds ou biggest city which has never been rich looked ten times better and cleaner. its the money and the greed I dwell on .

I too have noticed the dirty streets. It’s such a pity. It could be so much better. I can’t remember the last time I visited, over six years ago now. My grandparents would be shocked!
As someone that didn't grow up here, but has lived here (London) for around 30 years now, I both love and hate the place at times, but I don't know if I could live anywhere else...!
