MY COLD, or AN ODE TO MAN-FLU

It is often remarked that we males suffer much more serious symptoms than do women when it comes to the common cold. Remarked by men, that is, and scorned by women...

In a torrent pulled by gravity,
Down my wretched nasal cavity
Drips and drops with sneezing calls
Like some obsessive waterfalls
Come all the things it seems I've got,
Gallons of torrential snot...

And then I mention, with no suavity
The sneezes from that nasal cavity,
The rips and roarings, moaning crashes,
Accompanied by snotty splashes
Spume and spray like liquid fluff
Of microscopic germy stuff.

And eyes that fail to see the levity
Of pain within that nasal cavity,
Leaking here and leaking there
And leaking every bloody-where,
Aches and pains and flashing light
Distorting all my disturbed sight.

And then with loathsome nose depravity
In my wretched nasal cavity
A night-time horror worse than dreams,
Blocked passages with bungs, it seems,
And though I try I cannot sleep
But want to cry: yes, want to weep!

Well, well, well, we have a very beautiful and descriptive poem. You have described common cold in a lovely, uncommon manner. Some good similes, good onomatopoeia and nice rhyming lines. 'Torrent pulled by gravity' 'like some obsessive waterfalls'- very nice lines. You have reminded me of the cold I suffered from a few months back- blocked nose at night and running nose at day.
