Spider Bites

Spider Bites

A Poem by phantom pains
"

I am losing it

"
You are the itch that feels incredible to scratch.
It's horrible for my skin;
Picking calls for redness, irritation, and an eventual scar,
But with every claw at the wound, there is much satisfaction.
The burning sensation of the venom is converged by a moment of bliss,
Where pain dissipates,
Where pain is concealed, rather,
And where the weight of the lust for more
Overpowers the eventual regrets and sorrow and awful wonder...
And I wonder, when the numbing paste doesn't do its job,
Why must I cut open wounds for myself,
When there are old ones still to heal?
And to this, I am silenced.
To this I am lost, again.

Ah, the itch that must be scratched. There is no point to it, it's irrational and leaves scars, but I totally get it. It just has to be done. Sad, melancholy ending, which is perfect to capture the loss you feel.
Thought provoking words. Thank you for sharing.
