CAGEDA Poem by phantomquill Barren walls unyoked my being,Steel bars encumbering mobility; Mean legions burn me to frazzle, Claustrophobic aftermath of cages. Forestland where I've been caught, Desolated in derelict sepulchral bunk; Ruthless humans scraped off my fur, For splendid coats and costly purse. Soul of mine isn't worth a billion price, Placed me on a silver plate with bowl of rice; Blood of mine isn't worth a brick of gold, As experimental specimen, my body dead and cold. Enthroned themselves at the zenith of hierarchy, Gift of rationality they've been endowed; But callous hearts must have they gained, Burgled our freedom, suffered tumultuous torture. © 2013 phantomquillReviews
