I won't let you fall

I won't let you fall

A Poem by Pheonix Dawn

Hey, hero
hidden in the light
like a cloak edged in chaos
Don't you know you're beautiful
secrets you long to muffle out
as you relinquish yourself to the cape
a title never asked upon
bearing it like a cross on your journey to redemption
from the unknown
Can't you see, I know who you are
wounded warrior with your hand on the hilt
anticipating and circumspect of this life
a battlefield for peace
leaving your soul tattered
riddled with bullet holes
bleeding out till you're depleted
tell me, when will your time come
to diminish your shield
surrendering to rest
Dear, Mona Lisa
sheltered in the shadows
a refuge fringed in your fading light
don't you see you're beautiful
scars you long to camouflage
succumbing to the mask, a painted on smile
like a harlequin
a facade of who you are
Don't you know, you're not alone
wounded warrior with your hand on the hilt
anticipating and circumspect of this life
a battlefield of love
your heart battered and bruised
stitched in kevlar
passion stamped out by the opinion of the minority
tell me, when will your time come
to break free from the shadows
and step into the light
you've been fighting for so long
don't you know, you were never alone
I've got your back
you've been hiding long enough
don't you know, you were never alone
i've seen you all this time
wounded warrior lay down your blade
you don't have to fight alone
rest your soul as i pick up your shield
just breathe and know
I stand with you
as long as i live
i won't let you fall
