forgotten heroes

an homage to any man looking at this from the above. i salute and thank you.

                       

The images of the fallen,

Speak for themselves.

They fought for our freedom

And nursed a country back to health.

 

Their strength, their courage,

Was measured in results.

For these were honest men,

Making honest assaults.

 

Some never came home.

Some were changed forever.

But the ones that did asked,

Just simply….remember.

 

Remember their story.

Remember their class.

Remember their glory

But most of all,

Remember  the bar of gold in their hearts.

Well written poem. There is a quiet spiritual feeling to this that shows a respect for those the writer is writing about.

Beautiful poem. More people of our generation and below need to have this level of respect for those who fought for our country and our freedom. This reminds me of my grandfather who passed away a few years ago now. Some of the most memorable moments of my life were him sitting down and telling me the stories of his childhood and the hardships his generation went through.

He wrote an autobiography which I have yet to read, but I'm sure it'll tell many stories that will build my respect for his generation even more.
