One Summer Twilight

One Summer Twilight

A Poem by Phoenix

When softly sings the lullaby

Of Summer breezes through the trees

And twilight lingers, warm and slow

It is melancholy the dying day embraces.

I feel a certain insignificance

Among the greater scheme

As the day-lily's vivid bloom closes toward slumber

It's duty fulfilled.

I listen... quietly listen

for the last and final trill of Robin's song

To float across the air

As the ethereal darkness descends.

Amazing! Your grasp on telling of nature's beauty in this aspect is spellbinding. The ability to allow nothing but poetic words to be spilled to page is a rare gift, my friend, one which you have. This is a favorite.
