The Trees Are Changing

The Trees Are Changing

A Poem by Piper Valentine
"

I wrote this when I was sixteen about a friend I loved a little more than the others.

"
We sit in a silence
No conversation nor music could fill.
You have become quiet
And the trees are changing.

She is more to you than I could be
Though I love you both so desperately;
I am losing you
and the trees are changing.

And by December you will be gone,
Out of my reach forever
And I will wait for someone else to fill the silence.

The trees are changing,
And with each leaf that turns auburn,
With every blade of grass that dies,
I will watch the wind carry you farther and farther north
Until our love has gone with them
And I will no longer love the colors of the fall.
