Waiting

Waiting

A Poem by Piper Valentine
"

"Waiting" is about the expectations that often come with romantic interaction. I wrote it for someone I liked, but did not quite want to sleep with.

"
Songs repeat
And we’re tapping feet
Like we’re waiting for someplace to go.
Comfortable silence is a luxury
Only the stationery know.

Always an expectation,
Always some place to go.

But I am the reality;
I think, and I feel,
And goddamnit, I’m real,

And I think that I like standing still.
