Vault

A Poem by Scott H.
"

I've been watching the Olympics

"

“Vault”

I wish that I could
Fly like that,
To vault and tumble
Wild like that

To see the world in
Blurs go by
As I leave the ground
To soar on high

If only I’d been
Born like that,
With grace and style,
Adroit like that

Instead of clumsy
Like I am,
Too gawky and fainéant
To give a damn

Then maybe I’d be
Cut like that,
Ripped and robust and
Formed like that

But I was not to
Mine own shame,
To dream I was is
Mine own bane.

mine - my (?)

I loved this poem. First, you wrote it very well. Second, it points to how many sit and compare ourselves to an ideal, rather than accept ourselves for who we are.

I mean really - would we want to work out 8 hours a day to look like that? (smile)

Hahaha I was just going to comment....got Olympic boys on your mind? I quite enjoyed the gymnastics, myself. Great rhythm in this piece.
