Oxenfree

A Poem by Scott H.

“Oxenfree”

I looked in my backyard
But did not find it
Out amongst the cornfields,
The historic registry,
The small-town years which turn
One into the other without distinction.

I looked in Providence
But did not find it
Out alongst the river fires,
The university district,
The street I lived on where no
One else was speaking English.

I looked in the geyser basin
But did not find it
Out amidst the bison herds,
The mist-shrouded mornings,
The beautiful blue-eyed boy who whispered
Such conflicted convictions.

I looked inside myself
But did not find it.

What exactly are you looking for?

An interesting write. I usually find that if I stay still a moment, hush my mind, I will find what I'm looking for.
