Potent Sweet Flower

Potent Sweet Flower

A Poem by poetic-raven2012

Lotus eaters on the island,
Eat your life away.
Forget all or nothing that was before,
Entranced in your potent dreamscape.

Frolic freely amongst the flowers,
Lay on the sun-soaked grass.
Enjoy the mist from the flowing water.
Flowers, oh potent sweet flowers.

On the water we've floated for so long
Before meeting this island,
Three men with hope in heart,
Were beguiled by the Lotus flower.

Returning no more
We went to fetch them,
Oh! The sly wrath of the lotus eaters,
Meant not one little bit.

'Twas brute force that brought them back,
Though they screamed and shouted,
We dragged them,
And under the influence of the flower, we tied them.

From sail to sail we started again,
The three below,
Sourly tied,
Floating with the potent sweet flower,

Author's Note

poetic-raven2012
This is an English9 assignment where we had to make a poem directy or indirectly talking about Homer's Odyessey and Romare Bearclens The Land Of The Lotus Eaters.
Please review this, it's due on Tuesday, 2-17-09, and I would really appreatiate some suggestions.
(Revision, revision, revision!
