Butterfly

 

I am but a caterpillar whose cocoon has opened

Peeking through life's door

Ready to fly to freedom

Unaware of what tomorrow brings

But full of the understanding that

Unless I fly from the womb

I will never know the true life of a butterfly....

I really connected to this piece as I also feel a bond to the symbolism of the butterfly and freedom. I actually incorporated it into my skin in the form of a tattoo! Thanks for the beautiful poem.
