Ancestral Beliefs

Ancestral Beliefs

A Poem by Scarlette Howard
"

Through the storms and fire they still hoped and believed

"
Through the valley, rivers, fire and storm
They sang hope and prayed
Believed and lent on the Shepherd
Who understood their pain
Singing we are covered and sheltered under Yah’s wings
Though we are wiped and blamed we shall sustain
Ten thousand of us may fall
But Yah will send his angels to give us peace
We shall not be afraid his hands will lift us up
Though weapons are formed against us
We shall not be burnt for Yah has promised to keep us under his wings
Heaven in its silence sings our names
For under his wings in the secret place we shall abide and remain
Heaven remembers our ancestors names.
