Sometimes you hate what you can see coming

She is slowly destroying you
Quietly taking you apart
One minuscule shard at a time
Silently robbing you of air

She is leaving you empty
Giving you a false sense of hope
A single fragment of sunlight
Dimming as the days trickle on

She keeps you clinging to shadows
Letting you grasp at nothing
An illusion of a phantom love
That evaporated long ago

She is receding from your touch
Pulling back with a gentle force
A movement you barely notice
Until her love is out of reach

She is creating chaos within you
Come rest beside me peacefully
I will surround you with warmth
Allowing you to find comfort

Relax your disarrayed mind
I will embrace you tightly
Holding you until sleep comes
Giving you a safe harbor

Let your thoughts become quiet
As slumber settles over you
We will surrender to calm
Locking out the stress of the day

To me I've notice the tone to be pessimistic yet realistic of accepting the battles or simply put the ups & downs in relationships, The speaker is hopeful in love while she is tantalizing you with promises and love... In the line " She is creating chaos within you
Come rest beside me peacefully
I will surround you with warmth
Allowing you to find comfort." Yet he's already enlightened enough to know what he loves will eventually kill him as he paints it before " She's receding from your touch...until her love is out of reach." Very hopeful what you want love to be yet turns out to be repetitive boxing match just enduring the rounds until you win or lose. Also reads as a beautiful song taking you in the depths of trying to hold on to a love that completes your suffering in a good way.. you know bad for the soul but good for heart. I've certainly enjoyed this inquisitive piece had me pondering my own love haha but keep writing :) sincerely your friend in poetry and life :)

This person is my unconditional love and all I want is for his happiness and one minute this woman wants to be with him and the next she is shutting him out only to pull him in again. I see what is happening and i can’t stop the wreckage that’s going to takes place. I will simply be there to help out the pieces back together when it happens. Like I have many times before

She keeps pushing and pulling him. All I want is for him to be happy but over the last year she spends time with him and then doesn’t want to. They have almost broke up a couple of times and then taken a couple of breaks. If she doesn’t want to be with him or doesn’t love him she needs to let him be and move on. I see what is coming and there isn’t anything I can do about it.

Oh I know and I completely under this but it is frustrating. He knows that I care deeply for him and only want him to be happy. I told him that I didn’t think trying to work things out was good for him or in his best interest but I wasn’t going to tell him what to do. I love him unconditionally and respect that he is trying to fix his relationship. I just hope he isn’t completely broken in the end.

It’s a complicated tale. Long story short him and I have been friends for 13 years. I live very far away from him now. He is my unconditional love. I want happiness for him but unfortunately I can see the train wreck coming and there is nothing I can do but piece him back together when she shatters him. Something I have done many times over the years.
