This adventure begins in the dead of night As the moon shines full with twisted delight Across water logged mossy hallowed ground Specters glide shadowed not making a sound Vaporous black forms silently drape the land Inviting you to take their formless hand To become part of their sepulcher domain Where even the undertaker is insane As Death's hammer strikes its deceased nail Leaving rotten buried skin and entrails Postmortem bodies hidden under headstones Decaying to nothing more than gnarled bones Apparitions search through the land of the dead In hopes of creating a fresh and new dirt bed So frightened of this sight you grind your teeth For next your body will lay lifeless beneath
Holy s**t.....this is a well crafted tale of more than just malevolence. Gripping from line one, the rhyming works well. This plays on the fears and questions of death and dying on what might happen post mortem....great writing and a wonderful tale for this time of night. Fabulous, I loved it.
Despite how I shy away from comparing poets to others, it reminds me of Edgar Allan Poe's classical style of melancholy and gothic qualities. However, there is a unique voice; a voice that concentrates on the fear of death. The poem captures a vivid narrative about an undertaker of whom is constantly around death, and perhaps did not give it much thought until recently. The details are beautiful, and it is enriched with macabre touches. We are all afraid of the unknown. Death is the personification of that fear.
You could expand this poem into a story. A lot of interesting detail and situation in this short poem. The poem is direct and to the point. A very strong ending to a excellent poem. Thank you.

I liked this, I read it first, then I read it again, and I visioned I was in a boat heading to hell, and it was the warning sign I was reading before I go in. :-)
