Tragedy fo M 'lady Vanessa

Tragedy fo M 'lady Vanessa

A Poem by Poeticpiers

silly sonnet

Tragedy

Hubert the Hippopotamus
 was rather slow and ponderous
So he appeared quite dignified.
Although in fact deep down inside
He held a dream that he one day
would show the word that he could play.
That his forte was comedy
 and people would pay happily
To see his latest slapstick show
But he was too ponderous and slow.
There was no way he’d ever be
 the clown prince of comedy.
But still he tells his latest jokes
To all the other jungle folks.

I love light hearted pieces such as this!
And yet it reminds me of a very famous children's writer and a favorite at our house....
Dr. Suess, who did quite well with his "silly sonnets"
Also I think it sends children ( of all ages) a message to do what makes them happy and follow their heart's dreams.
Thank you for sharing this.
