Transient beauty

Imayo form

"

Imayo.

4x 12 syllable lines caesura after seventh syllable
Can be written as an eight line poem
7-5-7-5-7-5-7-5

Example

When the cherry blossoms die// Memories remain.
Petals white against the sky// pictures we retain.
Beauty may be transient // memories are not.
Though they are not permanent // and will be forgot.
Next year when the cherry trees // blossom once again
Pleasing everyone who sees // their buds open
Natures yearly beauty show .// Everyone must go.
blossoms dancing in the breeze .// Can lift your spirits so.

I like this a lot. The thought of my weeping cherry tree blossoming has gotten me through many a long winter. Of course, memories of other things remain too, that is understood. Well done...I have trouble with anything but free-form poetry, although I force myself to do it sometimes because it's good exercise for the mind and the artistic muscles ;)

Very nice. I like how you mixed some parts of sonnets and some of haiku. I could see the cherry blossoms and smell their scent. Very nice.
