Delayed reaction

Delayed reaction

A Poem by Poeticpiers
"

sonnet in Iambic tetrameter

"

Delayed reaction

The grey dawn breaks over the sea
I watch and wonder wearily,
Why is it when I close my eyes?
Then sudden storms of thoughts arise.
Ideas that circle ceaselessly
disturbing my serenity.
I try to sleep to no avail my
my every effort doomed to fail
Yet when my clock emits its beep.
My mind decides it’s time to sleep.
But I can’t sleep its time to rise
and face the day with bleary eyes.
I do not know why this should be.
Can anyone enlighten me?

A poem I have felt intimately for sometime....when I get insomnia it is a sign something in my life is not right with the world..balance out of sorts...this describes it soo well! Bravo!

Very nice flowing couplets...they really take you there...to that point of no sleep and of restlessness. The meter is flowing so well that it gives the feel of your mind racing. Super piece and enjoyed it. Try and get some sleep....

My opinion? Like a true writer you get your best ideas at night and as a consequence you could be one of those who sneak out of bed in order to jot down your latest ideas on paper before posting them the next morning...
Anyway, this is a perfect account of what happens to me very frequently!
