Ancient and Modern 08

 

An insect in an amber bead.

A scrap of life trapped long ago,

today it satisfies a need.

 A curiosity on show.

A pendant necklace held in place

by a solid golden chain.

It shows beneath a smiling face.

Its owner happy to explain,

 just why this is her favourite piece

of modernistic jewellery.

But if the insect gained release 

she would react hysterically.

 Though insects amber frozen

 are acceptable and popular.
