Potentialities

Reflections in a blue jade bowl.
A poet sees what can’t be seen,
fantasies that stir the soul
and things that have not come to be.
Echoes from the future appear.
As though they happened yesterday,
strange prophecies that we should fear,
that lie athwart our forward way.
When winter comes the birds fly south
because their instinct bids them to.
As thoughts progress from brain to mouth
and then in written form to view.
The poet draws his energy
from the blue jade bowl that he can see.

yes. I wondered where that special energy came from . . . the thirst that seems always just as strong. The hunger that never subsides . . .

This may be my favorite of any of your works.
