Two points of viewA Poem by Poeticpiersdouble sonnet
Two points of view
The world of beauty which I see.
Does not exist at all for you.
You have no time apparently
to stop and look the way I do.
The only colour you can see
The rancid green of dollar bills
which you pursue endlessly
You are convinced can cure all ills
You are mistaken in your view
The finest things in life are free
Heed this advice I give to you.
Just stand stare and you will see.
Hard cash is not the answer to
the blindness that’s afflicting you
xxxx==xxxx
Your words my friend may well be true
but they do not apply to me.
I can see as well as you do
I see the world quite differently.
For I was born in poverty.
I had to struggle to survive
To eat each day a luxury
That’s why I am compelled to strive.
I have no time to stand and stare
at flowers blooming prettily
Although I am aware they’re there.
Conditioned by past poverty.
The only beauty I can see
is growing piles of currency.
