Supportive Silence

Supportive Silence

Supportive Silence

Sometimes a word that’s left unsaid.
 Speaks with far greater eloquence
than anything you have rehearsed.
For often silence makes more sense.

Than any words you can compose.
Your thoughts transmitted directly.
A better method I suppose
than using words which may not be.

Expressing clearly what you mean.
Just empathising quietly.
With someone’s loss will not be seen
 as interfering uselessly.

You are still offering support
although there’s little you can do.
A friendly hug can say much more
Than any word however true.

Your friend will know and understand
That you are there because you care.
That you will lend a helping hand.
A loving friend’s beyond compare.

When you are lost in misery.
And life seems far too hard to bear.
Who’ll listen sympathetically
You really help by being there.
