A taste of the Orient for Bro salvatoreA Poem by Poeticpierssample of variuos oriental styled
A taste of the orient.
Kushih.
Chinese form
Cold winter comes heralded by
the autumn gales which strip the trees
Migrating birds now southward fly.
These are the moments poets seize
Record their thoughts in black and white
In words they’ve chosen carefully
With which they hope to share the sight
of visions seen but fleetingly.
If they succeed as they hope
they can transmit that which they view.
Their feelings and emotions too
Something poets must try to do
Some will succeed but others fail
Although they try their very best
their efforts are to no avail.
Their lack of skill is manifest.

Choka.
Japanese form
Trees starkly outlined.
Silhouettes against the snow.
Artfully designed
for the austere beauty show.
Pure simplicity
Winters limited palette
only black and white.
Is proved to be sufficient
to create beauty.
Which all who see appreciate.
If they choose to see the
complex simplicity
embodied in each bare tree

Ch’I yen shih.
Chinese metre
Things we hold true may not be.
What we are taught in our youth
by those who are also blind.
How can they teach us the truth.

Doha.
Hindi form
I was foot loose and fancy free until I met you, suddenly I knew that I was incomplete.
I surrendered and cast my heart at your feet.
