Silly Sonnet

"

Foresight

I‘ve donned my winter underwear.
I thought it better to prepare
those chilly winds get everywhere.
The cold and damp are hard to bear.
They’re in a fetching shade of blue
and keep me warm as they’re meant to,
When winter comes I always do.
The auld wives tales might well be true
They say you should protect your chest
and swear Red Flannel is the best.
But I have put it to the test.
My thermal blues beat all the rest..
I may be old but use my head
when it’s too cold I stay in bed.

Very well constructed. The meter is good, the rhyme scheme is good, and the use of 8 syllables instead of the usual 10 or occasional 12 is inventive and original and the rhyme scheme is inventive as well. The use of the 14 lines of Shakespearean Sonnets is why you classified it as a sonnet?

I am a firm believer in staying warm. And crawling back in bed when it's too cold outside. I loved this.

This was out and out Seussian, and I loved it. It was brought to my attention in part for my proclivity towards rhyming, lyrical stuff and in part for my love of my one-piece jammies with feet in them.

No matter her motivation, I am pleased that she pointed me this way.
