Tetrameter sonnet

Evolution

Long, long ago as poets know.
A sonnet was a little song
without rules you had to follow.
There was no way you could go wrong.
 Petrarch invented a fixed form
and then Will Shakespeare altered it.
Both are accepted as the norm
although they vary quite a bit.
Since Will most poets had a try
to write a sonnet in their way.
The hide bound purists can’t deny
there’s many sonnet forms today.
Like any art fine poetry
 evolves and improves constantly.

I feel honored having a poem dedicated to me, and I think I understand what you'r'e saying and I agree. Poetry is constantly evolving with new forms being invented, and then new versions of those forms appear, the forms themselves are redefined, and at the same time, some people repeat the form in it's 'pure' or 'original' form. Just making sure none of my comments have been misunderstood, I really like your sonnets and I understand that most 'forms' of poetry are very vague, and your stuff is most definitely in sonnet form. All the lines seem to follow tetrameter too, great job! :)
