I Hesitate

I Hesitate

A Poem by Poeticpiers

I hesitate

I walk in darkness seeking light.
I search for truth to no avail
I can't distinguish wrong from right.
I know not if I can prevail
against the problems assailing me.
I cannot say with certainty
if satisfaction can be found.
The only thing I'm sure about.
I have no choice I must go on.
Despite my fears I have no doubt
that I am not the only one.
Who suffers such uncertainty
yet still continues hopefully.

Simply subjective and meaningful.
It combines uncertainty with pure judgment of thought!
And I can sense that from the poem itself:

"that I am not the only one.
Who suffers such uncertainty
yet still continues hopefully."

I really enjoyed this writing as well.
Great job.

Nicely put, Piers. I think the older we get, the more we realise that the less we know for certainty. It's the old story isn't it - 'When I was sixteen, my father knew absolutely nothing. By the time I was twenty five, it was amazing how much he'd learnt.' There's no certainty in this life, the divide between right and wrong becomes more blurred as time passes, and everything eventually blends into overlapping shades of grey. Also, of course, the onset of the technological society has dimmed even what basic verities we held to be unassailable, and now everyone has to find their own way through the maze of conflicting attitudes and beliefs. Rest assured, we're all in the same boat.
David.
