Ancient and Modern

Ancient and Modern

We pray.
Always for peace
certain we are sincere.
Hoping that all wars will cease
some day.

Winter
A time of rest.
Life hides beneath the soil,
waiting patiently for spring to come.

Eyes
clear blue.
Don't always see
all that they should.
Unwise.

Solid.
Hand mad
a craftsman's work
to bear our weight,
comfortably.

Congratulations for winning the cinquain contest!

This was a very lucid Cinquain series. It captures perfectly the futility of war and the dichotomy of praying for peace while the craftsman only continue building coffins. The lines:

certain we are sincere.
Hoping that all wars will cease
some day.

contrasting with:

Eyes
clear blue.
Don't always see
all that they should.

I'll leave my comment with the words from one of my favourite folk songs, 'when will we ever learn? when will we ever learn?'

Perfect!
- eh eh! I'm playing, I'm not a specialist! - but for me, what I can say for sure is:
it is very beautiful! A pleasure to read!
