Penalty Clause story poem for friend DavidA Poem by PoeticpiersMorality tale??
Penalty Clause
The coffin was a work of art. Made by a master of his trade. Perfectly finished every part. Quite obviously craftsman made. The widow wanted to impress all of her relatives and friends. The dear departed matters less. Although the widow still pretends That by his death she's left bereft. Yet smiles beneath the veil she wears. Planning to spend the wealth he's left. The only time she sheds real tears. Is later when the will is read. In which he males it clear he knows She will not grieve when he is dead and so he left his fortune to a charity close to his heart. She can forget her spending spree He'd only left her a small part of all his cash and property. She has the right to occupy the family home for life rent free He saw no reason to supply the means to live in luxury.. Although she could dispute the will There's little chance she would succeed. The time has come to foot the bill in payment for her selfish creed. She thought her husband was a fool but he was wiser than she thought. An honest man of the old school. Who thought it time that she was taught. That contracts made must be fulfilled or else there is a penalty. This was his trade and he was skilled. He punished her posthumously. Is there a moral to this tale? That's something which you must decide. I think the sting is in the tail but were his actions justified? 04/05/2009 http:// blog.myspace.com/poeticpiers © 2009 Poeticpiers |
