Power to the people

Power to the people

In singe file the pylons stride
across the open countryside.
They bear their burden easily
providing electricity.
Those thin black lines against the sky
may not be easy on the eye
But we have grown accustomed to
man made intrusions on the view.
Demand for power overrides
the views of the opposing sides
The pylons are unfortunately
an absolute necessity
Which we accept reluctantly
we all need electricity.

Yep, I always watching a programme the other day, Grand Designs, about a couple who wanted to build a green home, suffice to say they ended up not doing it because of the extra cost. You are so right, no matter what a blight on England's green and pleasant fields those pylons, motorways and, yes, runways are, they are necessary to our lifestyle, especially electricity. Even when I was in Cornwall, I think I never noticed the pylons.

As someone who uses wayyy too much electricity, I understand. Lol, I should start un plugging thigns when i'm not using them.
