I am what I am

I am what I am

A Poem by Poeticpiers
"

Balassi stanza

"
I am what I am

I try my best to show
So other people know
That I am a gentleman.

Because I think it best
to differ from the rest.
I am not a macho man.

I am content to be
seen as ordinary.
Though I am a gentle man.

Ivor, your third line, "That I'm a gentleman," is one syllable short. Why not change "I'm" to "I am"?

This was cute, and the words spoke loudly. It's best to just be you, reguradless of anything else. :)

Charming, the playing with gentleman and gentle man reminds me of Joe in Great Expectations. And now you have inspired me to write a Balassi stanza.

to me this has described what a man should be! well done, bravo! with this piece i would rate you a scholar and a gentleman, for what are we here if not to learn from others!

Blessed be,
Fallon
