Triumph and Tragedy

The moonlight cloaks in mystery
those predators who hunt by night.
The owl displays her mastery
she knows the art of soundless flight.
But other predators earth bound
although they hunt successfully
betray their presence by some sound
The hunting owl swoops silently.
The moonlight cloaks in mystery
the nightly struggle to survive.
The triumph and the tragedy.
Some have to die so others live.
Eat or be eaten is the law.
The moon has seen it all before.
