Swan song

Swan song

A Poem by Poeticpiers
"

"

A dying swan sings, so they say.
I do not know if this is true.
To me it seems a fitting way
for swans to bid their last adieu
Although they would much rather stay
with life long mates who have been true.

There is no reason I can see
it can’t be true. It might well be.

Why is that we can today
decide. It is not true, deny
the truth of what the legends say.
That swans must sing before they die
When we can’t prove it either way.
I am confused and wonder why.

In my meadow, I don't often get to see swans, but your poem has brought them to my attention in this lovely way.
