Prithee sweet maid Pt 2 The answer

Prithee sweet maid. The answer.

M y father thinketh thou worthy.
Mother agrees reluctantly
but sayeth I am too young to wed.

The cream of aristocracy
can boast no better blood than thee.
Or so my father’s friends have said.

Me thinks thou art a worthy match,
As fine as any maid could catch.
Thy interest turneth my head.

Although I am of tender years
and not well versed in love’s affairs.
I think my answer must be yea.

I wouldst that thou should pay me court.
With my duenna as escort
We must observe proprieties.

I send this message to thee by hand.
Because I truly understand.
Thou waiteth right impatiently.

In thus wise was my future sealed.
My joyfulness was unconcealed.
I know my parents were relieved.

That I had chosen suitably
and that I’d acted honourably
but that there was no need for haste.

My mother bids me that I must
take the time to earn thy trust
and pay thee court respectfully.

Advice which I should not ignore.
I’ve never been in love before.
There is so much I do not know.

Although I long to hold thee close
 I may not until Propose
 and thou accepteth formally

Then we can choose the wedding day
and let our parents have their way
To plan a splendid wedding feast.

When I received thy welcome note.
My heart rose up into my throat
I was afraid thou wouldst decline.

Bu thou did not thou answered Yea.
I saddled up and straight away
Rode over to see thee post haste.

We shared our first kiss eagerly
 although somewhat hesitantly.
A foretaste of delights to come.

 Now we must wait expectantly
 and on my part impatiently.
Until the day that we are wed.

This promise I will make to thee
that I shall love thee faithfully.
As long as I have life and breath

I bring my story to its close
 a happy ending I suppose.
Is what my readers want of me.
