Bewildered

Bewildered

A Poem by Poeticpiers

Sonnet in tetrameter

Bewildered

Art thou as pure as driven snow?
As virginal as thou dost seem.
 An angel walking here below
or art thou but a fleeting dream.
Thou seemest to me to be real
Thine image nightly haunting me.
Into my dreams thy face doth steal
 and smiles on me bewitchingly
I know not who or what thou art
but must suppose thou knowest me
and cast thy spell to claim my heart
Which I would give thee willingly
 mayhap thou art a fantasy
I conjure up unconsciously.

Aw, fantasy vs reality... aren't we all in that state when we fall in love? We're bewildered concerning what is happening to us as we're swept into the genetic evolution-driven survival-of-the-species hormonal torrent that carries us through our youth. This is written with the perspective of a person thinking about this bewilderment in the past... and having a "nightly" haunting. A great write with 8 syllables in every line and rhythm to beat a drum too. I really enjoyed all fourteen lines.

Thanks for sharing,
Peace and Love,
papaed
