Late evening stroll for new friend Marie

Late evening stroll for new friend Marie

A Poem by Poeticpiers
"

sonnet in iambic tetrameter

"

Late evening stroll

Night falls swiftly and silently.
Across the quiet countryside.
The new moon shows through fitfully.
Although the dark clouds try to hide.
This slender crescent from our view.
They succeed only partially.
Soft silver beams keep breaking through
providing light so I can see.
Quite well enough to find my way.
The darkness does not frighten me
though I prefer the light of day
But still stroll contentedly
 by paths familiar to me.
Which lead me home eventually.

I love evening strolls but where I live it's too dangerous. Use to be a quiet simple neighborhood, not anymore.
Have I ever told you that I admire your writing very much? Thank you for sharing. Debileah
