Scrambled speech for the MomsA Poem by Poeticpierspoem in rhyming quatrains
Scrambled speech
My youngest child was heard to boast
She’d eaten strangled eggs on toast
Her little friends were horrified.
Although her older brother tried.
To rectify the child’s mistake
His explanations did not make.
The slightest bit of difference.
The situation remained tense.
They said she was a murderer
and they refused to play with her
His words had fallen deaf ears
So she ran home to me in tears.
I cuddled her and held her close
I didn’t smile though heaven knows.
My sense of humour made it hard
a tearful smile was my reward.
Tomorrow is another day.
Her little friends will come to play
their childish games in my back lot
By then, they too will have forgot.
