Morning Hymn

Morning Hymn

Gladly do I greet the dawn
a new day born for me to see.
The dawn chorus fills my ears.
Banishes all fears: I’m free
to raise my hymn of praise.
To the suns rays. I ought to
in gratitude for the sight
of morning light. So I do.

I enjoyed the originality of the large print and your joy expressed in the poem.
When I can still write a new poem almost every day for years, I get to appreciate
Writerscafe even more; and you do the same, giving the new young writers an example of
how to spend a lifetime doing something worthwhile. sam at eighty

This is a very good piece. However, I did have a couple of problems with it.
Why is the font so big? It doesn't fit the piece. I know a little thing like that shouldn't matter, but every tiny thing matters in poetry, because anything can symbolize something.
Also, I did not like the repetition of the word dawn, especially in lines so close together. If they were spread out, I wouldn't have minded. But with them being so close together, it seems rather ... lazy. Overall, it was a very good piece!
