Faith the Facts

Faith the Facts

Faith the facts.

Search out all things of good report.
Consider each one carefully,
things are not always as you thought.
As you will find most probably.

What you were taught to be the truth
is very often far from true.
Lessons taught you in your youth
by those you thought knew more than you.

As you mature you learn to see.
They taught you their own biased view
Which you examine critically
And then discard most as untrue.

Your old beliefs grow obsolete.
Examine all the evidence
New facts emerge though incomplete,
you then accept what makes most sense.

What you were taught no longer true.
You can’t rely on faith alone.
Although the clergy urge you to
Because too much remains unknown

This is excellent advice for life. So much of this is universal truth and something I can relate to a great deal. I guess, being in my mid 30's, I'm at the cusp of two states of being. I'm still working out the mistruths that acted as guidance to me at one time, but I'm also becoming aware that I have shared some of these misconceptions with younger people that I sold as assertions of truth. I suppose it's teleopic in that context and I'm determined to inform myself as to facts before sharing 'knowledge' nowadays...though truth has changed often throughout the human story..ie religion to science..and I imagine we all believe things now that will be disproven by the next generation. From another perspective though; I had an incorrigibly questioning nature as a child and I often find myself wondering just how much misinformation was left to me just to 'keep me quiet'! Take care, spence
