Have I made my point?

Have I made my point?

A Poem by Poeticpiers

Have I made my point?

My turn on point, I smoke a joint
I may well die but I’ll die high.
I may survive its possible
But it’s not highly probable...

Nobody knows but I suppose
Dreams can come true but seldom do
At least not for the likes of us
What makes me really furious?

We aren’t allowed to question why
Our job is just to do or die
No politician understands
The end results of his demands

and I afraid they never will
As long as grunts must foot the bill.
Is this a war that we can win?
It seems to me to be a sin

To ask young men to fight and die
When they don’t know the reason why
They’re sent to fight in foreign wars
for no good reason and less cause.

If politicians had to fight
They’d realise that martial might
Was not the answer which they seek
Might even turn the other cheek.

My turn on point I’ll smoke a joint
I may well die but I’ll die high
I may survive its possible
but it’s not highly probable.

a thoughtful moral and political statement with maybe some undertones of the vietnam war era? your narrative flowed quite seamlessly and i love how it started and ended with the same verse - sort of like a tease to begin with that transforms to a very visual truth in the end.
