Searching for peace of mind

Some vets have scars that can’t be seen.
That does not mean they are not there.
We do not know where they have been
nor what they’ve seen they cannot share.

They do not know who they can trust.
Perhaps they’ll never trust again.
We have to help them to adjust
and show we understand their pain.

The healing process will be slow
 far slower than the injury.
Which caused the scars that hide below
the surface so we cannot see.

We have to give them time and space
Provide them with all that they need.
To convalesce at their own pace
We hope and pray they can succeed

They are quite free to come and go.
They do not need to be confined
There is so much we do not know
 about a damaged human mind

There is no cast iron guarantee
 but we believe that probably.
You’ll make full recovery
to be the man you used to be.

That’s all that we can offer you.
We cannot promise you a cure
but we will do all we can do.
You deserve it that’s for sure.

Funny the one thing all men have in common from time immemorial Hope I spelled that right Is the desire to wage war.And yet by god when the dust settles all the moneys spent and the leftovers are accidents

The wounds of War can be put aside only. Some of us don't feel the pain as others. Some men had to do things unthinkable. I felt no pain from War till I went to funeral for my best friend. I stood with his family. It overtook me for two years. I keep in contact with my friends kids. My brave and strong opinion of War today is not the same when I see what it can do. I feel pity and sadness for the old Soldiers. Korea, Vietnam and the so call great Wars. Like the Wars of today will leave shadows for men and woman till death. A excellent poem. I pray for the Wars to stop.
