Uninvited company

Shy shadows surreptitiously,

when twilight falls invade my room.

I do not let this worry me

they have the right to I assume.

When morning breaks they quickly go

I understand that they must hide.

But where they go I do not know

Some secret place where they abide.

Until the twilight sets them free.

It is then they venture out

 silently and stealthily

They are set free to roam about..

I know the shadows mean no harm

and see no reason for alarm

What an imaginative piece! I get the sense of one's inner shadows, which comes out at night, like a the ghosts from the past revisiting the mind's eye. It is often for me that this is to be; for my mind wonders at night, but if I can get some sleep, and, "When morning breaks they quickly go." Leaving me at peace for the day, "But where they go I do not know," "Some secret place where they abide."

Wow! I love this piece, and it is going into my favorites!

Tommy

Very nicely done.

Your words give wonderful visuals. The shadows in life are left to yesterday as the new dawn brings light.
This was very enjoyable! :-) Lee

This flows beautifully. Quite a playful tone that belies the depth in this piece. Oh, I love the title too. Excellently done!!!

What is it about the shadow that pulls at us? The way you make them seem playful and not sinister is quite refreshing, indeed.

Very enjoyable and picturesque piece. Interesting topic, great thoughts, very well worded. A tad fanciful and fun. Liked this much.

Beautiful, just beautiful! Your technique is flawless and the whole things flows right off the page. Quite clearly, you are a master of prose!

You've captured some wonderful visuals and the thoughtfulness/brooding of the piece is dream-like in quality. A truly excellent piece!
