What if I am wrong?

What if I am wrong?

A Poem by Poeticpiers
"

narrative verse

"

What if I am wrong.

My friend is blind, has always been.

But as she says that does not mean.

She can’t live independently.

She can and does successfully.

A doctor of philosophy

 she’s very proud of her degree.

Her lectures taped and writ in Braille.

She was determined not to fail.

I’m privileged to be her friend.

Someone on whom she can depend

For the few things she cannot do

I emphasise they’re very few.

Her favourite comment yes I see.

 She says it quite unconsciously.

It comes sometimes as surprise

 to seeing  folk who aren’t as wise.

She really means she understood

What they are saying as she should.

She is psychotherapist

 and knows that nothing should be missed.

It makes me sad she cannot see

That I would dearly like to be

A great deal more than just a friend

She’s not aware that I intend.

To ask if she will marry me.

I think perhaps she will agree.

If I propose romantically.

She will accept quite happily.

I wrote this and then used it to tell the one i married last week what i thought it is true you may be wrong.I dont think so

The Secret

I dreamed three words in my mind;
they longed to touch her heart.
Each a third of the love;
I’d felt for her from the start.

I'd hid the words I treasured so;
praying they would only heed.
But needing love they wanted out;
to touch the soul they'd freed

so now at last I let them sail;
as all would freely do.
That she might know the first be I;
the others Love and You!

One will never know
Unless you take the chance and ask
Love never risked is love denied
So ask her
With your eloquent tongue
And take a risk on love and life.

A doctor of philosophy and a psychotherapist? This character can really see through people. (I say character because I generally assume that all poetry does not describe reality).

The ending came suddenly, the verse mostly is about someone observing her, and it was not my impression that the observer was adoring her.

Perhaps the woman is also unaware of this secret adoration?

The verse would also seem to be a good opportunity illustrate how people tend to project drama onto others. It seems that she is wonderfully content with her life, while others appear to assume her life is heavily burdened.

Combining the projection and the adoration could make for a very emotionally stirring piece.

As always, your command of the English language is impressive.
