Ill gotten gainsA Poem by Poeticpiersnarrative verseIll gotten gains You slandered me deliberately When you impugned my honest in articles you chose to write. I challenged you as is my right. I aim to prove although you knew your accusations were untrue. You published them maliciously. Your sole intent to damage me. I asked you to retract your views But you decided to refuse. You offered no apology adding insult to injury. I had no choice but to pursue this matter in an open court I can produce clear evidence against which you have no defence. You’d have to prove your words are true And this something you can’t do. You challenged my integrity in articles defaming me. You slandered me and libelled me For reasons quite unknown to me. I can prove quite easily You knew you before you slandered me. You knew your accusations were only allegations You chose to treat as being true Because you really wanted to. Besmirch my reputation. You did what you should not have done. Now you must pay for your mistakes. You chose to play for higher stakes. That you are guilty there’s no doubt so you will have to go without. The luxury you are used to When you have paid me what is due. The damages are punitive The judge was very positive That you set out deliberately with the intent to injure me You knew you lied but still you tried Of that the court was satisfied. You face a life of poverty because you chose to slander me. I think that justice has been served your punishment is well deserved. My reputation is restored your lying words will be ignored. You only have yourself to blame you took a chance and lost the game. I would have been quite satisfied If you had only apologised. But you refused and forced me to take action to refute your view. You left me no alternative Your malice I could not forgive. Your reputation is destroyed your words are rendered null and void. Because you wrote dishonestly The articles attacking me. You were a journalist of note and most believed that what you wrote. Was to expose corruption not based on supposition. Although you failed to damage me I must consider seriously. The fact that you were prone to lie about the facts you could supply. You may have libelled other men with articles you chose to pen. But that is their not my concern Each one may sue you in their turn. I pursued my case and I won as perhaps they should have done. I did what I was forced to do succeeding in exposing you. As one who lied and knew he lied I can hold up my head in pride I’ve vindicated my good name Which was my sole and only aim. The damages which you must pay It’s my intent to give away. To charities which are in need I think to keep them would be greed. The wealth you earned dishonestly I think quite fitting it should be, donated to some worthy cause. I will choose carefully of course. Sunday, 29 November 2009 http:// blog.myspace.com/poeticpiers © 2010 Poeticpiers |
