Is this a sonnet?

 

I say this is a sonnet form.

Although it’s different from the norm

I’m sure the purists won’t agree

 It’s bound to cause controversy.

Some so called experts are averse

 to any varied form of verse.

If it’s not Petrarch or Shakespeare.

They make their disapproval clear.

 I do not let that worry me.

I have a choice and I am free.

To write my sonnets how I choose

And disregard my critic’s views.

 Sonnets are very versatile

 and can be written any style.
