Help

There are footprints in my garden

Where the elephants have been

Which cause my heart to harden.

When daily I survey the scene

The tend to sneak in uninvited

Where they have got no right to be

I am not at all delighted

 By their bold effrontery.

The elephants show no respect

for man made rules They don’t need to.

I have no choice but to accept

their giant footprints in the dew.

They do not mean to cause offence

 although it’s obvious they do

At least they step over the fence

Thank God there’s only one or two.

Things could be worse I have no doubt

Because they could decide to stay

Although its true I could look out

And watch the elephants at play.

I’d rather that they stayed away

Because they are unwelcome guests.

I do not think they will obey

They really are such dreadful pests

I do not want them visiting

my garden at the dead of night.
they really should not be dancing

in my garden. They have no right.

I would be grateful for advice

 from anyone who suffers too.

Though elephants can be rather nice

I’d rather see them at the zoo. Monday, 08 March 2010. http:// blog.myspace/poeticpiers

Not the most observant of sorts I glanced at the garden several years ago and my jaw bounced off my toes. It looked like an elephant or maybe three had wrestled for the best most comfortable spot. I asked what happened. There was a snake in there when she'd reached down to pick a summer squash. Shed chased it with the shovel. It wouldn't leave. She showed it to me hanging on a branch. I've used sea worms for bait that long. Elephants!!

That is so funny....Thank you, the imagery you delivered here was a great way to start my day. Favorite line, 'their giant foot prints in the dew'. I can just see you there, your hands on your hips, the tut tutting as you survey the damage done by the lofty beast who has long since departed but hey, at least the fences were stepped over, could have been worse!!! Well done indeed.
