Sonnets

Sonnets.

 

All sonnets must be similar.

In that they all have fourteen lines

Though some are unfamiliar.

Unusual in their design.

As poets find new ways to say

 the thoughts which they are keen to share.

They have to share them come what may.

 In words they carefully prepare.

Petrarchan or perhaps English

the poets have the right to choose

 to write in any way they wish.

Although the purists will refuse.

To recognise all variants.

Why should we listen to their rants
