What might have beenA Poem by Poeticpiersvariant sonnetWhat might have been. Forget-me-nots still grow beside the stream. As they used to do when were both sixteen. When I look back at what might have been. But we were too foolish to pursue that dream. I was selected for a football team. You went to college studied medicine. We followed the advice of our close kin We both accepted other people’s schemes. And though we chose to go our separate ways. We both achieved some measure of success.. I still recall those golden summer days when we were young and knew true happiness. It seems success is just a passing phase. As you grow old it seems to matter less.
